We welcome Sarah Wall, Trilogy Underwriting’s new Commercial Underwriter. Sarah has a wealth of knowledge and experience as both a broker and underwriter. We caught up with her, to find out more about what she expects to bring and her expectations for 2023 and beyond.

What do you bring?

I started my career with Miles Smith and over the last two decades I have been fortunate to expand my knowledge and experience at John Holman and Carrolls. In fact, I’m looking forward to maintaining that relationship as I will be working with my old Carrolls’ colleagues in my new role here.

During my career I have had the benefit of seeing risks as both a broker and underwriter. I think this has given me a broad perspective from both sides of the fence. As a broking account handler, I have placed EL and PL risks across a wide spectrum of industries. On the insurance side I have underwritten a broad range of liability, property, property owners and commercial combined risks. I am sure that working with Trilogy will provide a platform to expand further.

What will you be doing?

I will be working with Trilogy’s existing clients and managing the renewal book. My job will be to understand their needs and provide the right cover at the right price. It’s a simple principle, but requires an open, honest and fair appraisal to get an accurate reflection of each risk. I see my role as building relationships with clients based on mutual trust. Also, as the risks change our solutions must adapt.  We must anticipate what is coming over the horizon to alert our brokers, so that we are all best placed to handle them.

What about the future?

I’m excited about joining the growing team at Trilogy and the quiet confidence from my new colleagues that we will continue to expand the business. Also, Chris has made it clear that he wants me to use my experience to develop other members of the team as well as deepening our relationships with existing clients.
